How to Create A Low Sleek Bun Updo

This is from a teaching I did for a membership community where I dropped a new updo tutorial every month. I’m teaching you how to create a low bun that is sleek through the top and sides, and has a really polished bun style for the back.

In the last few years, bridal styles have started to migrate from soft and flowy to sleek and polished, especially for a younger bride. If you’re doing bridal hair, this style is a must to know. Brides and bridesmaids will be wanting looks like this.

One thing to take note of: it’s extremely hard to get a frizz free polished style if you’re starting on hair that’s got a lot of wave, natural curl, or frizz to it. I always recommend to my brides with those textures to get a blow out before their wedding day to get the hair prepped for you. If that’s not possible, then having them wash their hair and blow dry it with a paddle brush will help to smooth down the cuticle and make your job easier.

Lastly, I recommend having a smoothing cream to worth with on your fingers to get a really polished finish. It’s also worth having a gel and bristle brush on hand to smooth out the stubborn baby hairs that live on the hairline and are hard to get with a flat iron.

As always, I welcome you to join my free community on Facebook or hop into my paid course if you want to really invest in your updo skills and get one on one help. I’m here for you!!
